ACQUISITION OF ASSET (การได้มาซึ่งสินทรัพย์)
Taking control (via purchase, transfer, or exchange) of a company's asset, e.g. a share purchase, share swap, land purchase, land lease, building lease, etc. The SET's listed companies are required to disclose to the SET the information on material acquisition of other companies' asset .

ARBITRATION (อนุญาโตตุลาการ)
Settlement of a dispute between the opposing parties. An arbitration usually abides the ruling of an arbitration panel. According to the SET arbitration regulation requires the opposing parties to appoint one arbitrator each to the arbitration panel, which is chaired by an arbitrator appointed by the SET. The SET arbitration regulation enables speedy and economical settlement of civil disputes between its Members or between a Member and its client.

An association of investment management companies engaged in securities business under the Securities and Exchange Act B.E. 2535. AIMC was founded in May 1994 to promote the development of investment management company standards and the protection of fund investors' interests.

ASSOCIATION OF SECURITIES COMPANIES (สมาคมบริษัทหลักทรัพย์)
An association of securities companies engaged in securities business under the Securities and Exchange Act B.E. 2535. ASCO was registered on September 1992 to coordinate the securities companies' activities and to collaborate with the public and private sectors in efforts aiming at developing the Thai securities industry. ASCO has set up a training institute to organize securities business training for the personnel of the SET's Members. Its conducts training and examination for the SET-authorized marketing officers and traders.

AUDIT COMMITTEE (คณะอนุกรรมการตรวจสอบ)
A committee appointed by a company's board of directors to assist in the supervision of the company's internal operations, preparation of financial reports, internal audit system and implementation, and information disclosure, to ensure transparency and accuracy, to enhance the company's efficiency and to build the confidence of its investors, customers and creditors.
The SET regulations require an audit committee of a listed companies to have at least 3 members (who are company directors), at least one of whom must be knowledgeable in accounting or finance. An audit committee member is required to be independent, having no direct or indirect financial interest or executive position in the company, its subsidiaries, or its major shareholders. Also, an audit committee member is not allowed to be related to or have any family relationship with the company's management or its major shareholders.
The SET also has its own Audit Committee in place.

AUTOMATCHING (วิธีซื้อขายแบบจับคู่คำสั่งอัตโนมัติ)
A computerized screen-based trading method as provided by the ASSET system which allows brokers to electronically send buy or sell orders from their offices to the SET trading computer. The ASSET system implements an order queuing process and arranges the orders according to price-and-time priority. Orders are first grouped according to price with the best price taking precedence. Then, within each price group, orders are arranged according to the earliest time. Simultaneously, the ASSET system begins to automatically match the first buy and sell orders in the queue while at the same time confirming each executed transaction via the brokers' terminals.

The SET's computerized monitoring system for all market surveillance tasks. ATOMS is used to monitor and analyze unusual trading activities, and also in investigation of trading cases in suspicion. ATOMS is consist of 3 main component systems: Automated Alert System, Detection System, and Documentation System, all of which are supported by the SET Information Management System (SIMS). The ATOMS system retrieve trading information, both historical and real-time, from the SIMS and link the information to listed company information/news from the Electronic Listed Companies Information Disclosure (ELCID) system, in conducting the market surveillance .
